Polk County, FL -- A former Polk County firefighter was arrested Thursday after he made public rants on his Facebook page toward former employees.
According to a release from the county, part-time Polk County Fire Rescue firefighter Christopher Baird was fired on June 8 from his job after it was determined that recent conduct was inconsistent with requirements of a fire service professional.
In May, Baird was removed from the work schedule for personal reasons. He later tried to reestablish his duty status. It was during this time, he published rants on his public Facebook page.
Baird was arrested last night by the Tampa Police Department on a felony warrant: three counts of threatening a public servant and two counts of aggravated stalking. At the time of this release, Baird remains in the Hillsborough County Jail pending first appearance.
A former Mulberry Fire Department employee, Baird was hired as a part-time employee on Nov. 2, 2009 after PCFR assumed the fire suppression responsibilities within the City of Mulberry.

BARTOW, Fla. - The Polk County Fire Department says Christopher Baird had a clean employment record with them.
But the part-time firefighter was taken to jail after investigators say he made threats over the phone and on the internet.
According to the Polk County Sheriff's Office, during a meeting with Fire Chief Tony Crouse, Baird challenged the chief's authority and appeared hyper and agitated. But that was just the beginning.
They say he scared the receptionist telling her over the phone. "They're all afraid of me and they should be. I'm gonna get back what they took from me."
According to the fire department, Baird was on leave because of personal reasons last month. They say he tried to get back on duty but started posting rants and threats on his Facebook page.
Among things investigators say Baird wrote: "live by the gun, die by the gun" and "I own weapons of all types, but quick wit and cat like reflexes are my best weapon."
He also posted a picture that showed his fire department badge, last paycheck and a hunting knife.
Authorities say one of his final posts alluded to further confrontation with the fire department, reading "I'm up to bat now and I now I know how to make home runs if you haven't noticed yet…winning!!!"
Baird was fired this week and is charged with three counts of threats against a public servant and two counts of aggravated cyber stalking.
