TAMPA — Sheriff's deputies arrested a Tampa Fire Rescue engine driver Monday on charges of child abuse, battery and tampering with a witness.

Julio Jesus Moran Jr., 43, got into an argument with a 39-year-old woman Monday, deputies said. During the fight, he kicked the woman in the lower leg, according to the Sheriff's Office.

A 17-year-old male who was at the house went to call 911, but Moran grabbed his neck and pushed him against a window, the Sheriff's Office reported. Moran then tried to take the phone, deputies said.

Moran had been living with the teen for about 18 months. The Sheriff's Office would not disclose their exact relationship.

Moran has worked for Tampa Fire Rescue for 18 years, said fire Capt. Bill Wade, an agency spokesman. He works out of a downtown station.

Moran was expected at work at 7:30 a.m. Tuesday, but because he was in jail, Fire Rescue will allow him to use his vacation time.

Jail records show Moran was allowed by a judge to be released on his own recognizance.

Fire Rescue will hold a hearing to review the case. But if the felony charges remain, he will be fired, Wade said.

Similar action was taken in 1994, personnel records show. In September of that year, Moran was charged with grand theft and seven counts of dealing in stolen property. Because the charges were felonies, Fire Rescue fired him in October. State records show he pleaded no contest, but adjudication was withheld.

He applied to work with Fire Rescue again in October 1995, and was rehired in 1996 because the adjudication had been withheld, Wade said.

Times news researcher John Martin contributed to this report. Reach Jessica Vander Velde at (813) 226-3433 or jvandervelde@sptimes.com.

Report Abuse 0 5 Thinkaboutit Apr 19, 2011 2:57 PM Yesterday Just how hard is it to get fired from the Tampa Fire department? Are they that desperate to keep people on staff like this guy? Charged with grand theft and seven counts of dealing in stolen property and pleads no contest. They really hired him again? Does he walk through walls and put fires out with a puff of his breath? Sure keep him around so he can get an underfunded pension.

You all don't know the situation, he could've been one of these wannabe punk teenagers with their pants down to their knees throwing up gang signs when they live in the suburbs and drive a nice car paid for by mom and dad.
It's never okay to touch a woman, that's not what I'm saying, but you don't have any idea what this teenager is like...

If your life relies on him being competent and not a ●●●●● as displayed by striking a woman and a child ... why are you not filing grievances? Surely there MUST BE SOMETHING. Why do you guys stick together like glue destroying the public trust? What does he have on someone?

Report Abuse TheTruthonThis Apr 20, 2011 9:24 AM About 2 hours ago Even the mother and the teen hopes he gets his job back. From what she told me, they both asked the officer not to arrest him, just to please ask him to leave the home long enough for them to get their belongings. She too, has no respect for him but hopes that he is reinstated.

V75 4IL v75 41L

This is the shovel(TRULY SHOVEL FACED like stephen baxley's "lady" down on wood) faced wife of a fire thang one assumes.

See way too much of it and its flabby ass. (totally out of character sized ass considering the pancake boobs it sports) First the Y and then slithering down himes with a poor, unhappy dog in tow and then over and over and then finally slithered by again yesterday at publix where shopping is a pleasure and while I did not get the picture of its nasty face (THIS TIME.. have replaced a few cameras taking its picture) I did get the tag. Big silver-ish SUV .. short kinda greasy looking dyed blond stringy hair. Stunningly ugly and blank faced .... one imagines they have no mirror in the foyer. And TONS OF FREE TIME. This denotes WIFE OF FIRE PIG.

Keep your ugly wife at home.... I'm pretty sure she was in on the starbucks stalking too. All that info tucked nicely away: about nine of them stalking at starbucks on one fine sunday fitting in a RICO FASHION. They're a scary bunch.

SCARY LOOKING.

It is pretty fucking terrorizing that they ALWAYS KNOW WHERE YOU ARE. Part of RICO is that you have been terrorized and so I grow more terrorized.

One thing about Cherryl barnett davis tuggle davis mcgillicutty the child beater let off the hook, I've yet to see her out there stalking us unless it was a starbucks day .. because she's certainly the type but maybe she's too busy plotting her next marriage (LOLLLS) Also.. hubby and sleezy friends DID make up for it for her... What a disgusting lot of people.

When the SHIT hits the fan for y'all and it will... you remember how powerful??? (stupid??) you felt riding around in your stupid SUVs giving people dirty looks who couldn't care less if you were alive. Will be really funny when you fuck up but good while doing so. Lady: go get a nose and mouth job. You have NO lips and a ski-slope nose. That is NOT an ad hominem attack but a profile suggestion.

I always think: wow look at that poor ugly woman and then you turn around and I realize it's your ugly shovel faced ass. LOLLSS. Do y'all purposely send out the gruesome ones to catch attention or is she married to that four foot eleven child molester who used to be at station ELEVEN???? Payback in the making there.

Your fat ass counterpart lives over on wood street ... home of 676 KNB and the others : always switching tags to stalk with other vehicles. One surmises this is how so many of your dumb asses get scooped up for driving unregistered vehicles and attaching the wrong tags like the original carnies: slit throat ricky allen hill (daddy on TPD : MIKE HILL and Michelle Jinright Hill who could have done better for herself.) Not with ricky, he's OK but stupid but for herself AS A LIFE. One assumes she likes the easier life: riding around stealing from people.... and stalking them. Saw a bunch of that despite the fact she took to wearing a baseball cap. Dumbass. FBI TRAINED TO OBSERVE. SELF TRAINED TO LAUGH AT YOUR DUMB ASSES.
